Transparency is the New Green in Product Selection and Specification: The evolution of EPDs to help make better design decisions

By Sustainable Minds on July 25, 2019

Recorded Tue, July 23, 11–12pm ET

Are you able to use EPDs to make informed decisions about which products actually have better environmental performance?

In this webinar, three LCA and EPD experts will discuss the ongoing evolution of EPDs and the marketplace demand driving the change in the building & construction industry.

1. Shifting from disclosure to performance

Jim Mellentine will discuss how EPDs are shifting from what was once only disclosure to now include how the environmental performance is, or will be, improved and how LEED v4.1 is incentivizing this change.

2. Comparability attributes and rewarding optimization

Angela Fisher will break down attributes of PCRs and LCAs that have kept EPDs from being comparable, what’s changing and what needs to be common between EPDs to compare.

3. Programs designed to make comparison possible

Terry Swack will look at new PCRs that include guidance for creating industry-wide EPDs as benchmarks to which product-specific EPDs can be compared; also a new embodied carbon impact methodology that calculates benchmarks from aggregated EPD data.

Come with questions to ‘ask the experts.'

Who should attend: MFRs, design professionals and industry groups who are proponents of simplification, standardization and delivering more useful and valuable environmental reporting tools to the marketplace.
